Expertise in project management

There is a strong correlation between your likelihood of success as a project manager and the breadth and depth of experience that you have had.
To meet the needs of this varied audience CITI's delivery style differs for three distinct groups:

Complex projects – here the style is to challenge delegates and give them time to question their approach. It is for project managers with 3-5 years project management experience who are responsible for delivering complex technology or stakeholder intensive change. Caseworks are used to allow delegates to reflect and think how techniques could be applied.

Making projects work – project managers who have limited experience either in time as a project manager or working in one business area are given time to experience different project management approaches in a safe environment. Learning occurs through the case studies and testing new techniques.

Principles of Project Management – for those with no experience but are required to use the key principals of projects in their roles. The learning style is ‘show and tell’; show the delegate the techniques and tell them how to apply them.

The persistently low ‘success’ rate of projects is indicative of the innately complex environments in which they take place.  As a practicing project manager you will have witnessed this; CITI consultants are both skilled and practiced in all necessary areas to assist you in achieving the desired project success.

For instance you may have found that start-up and initiation, so critical to success, have been fraught with problems. You will learn from our tutors how to exploit the ‘hourglass’ to resolve the conflict and minimise future problems arising from these early stages. You are likely to have found that contract management, change management and people management are other areas laden with difficulty.

Other areas of activity important to you are no less well supported. You will have access to a wide variety of tools, methods and techniques. Supporting and developing the individual project manager is amongst the most important things that CITI does.
