Managing complex projects
By attending this two module advanced project management course you will learn how to make complex projects successful.
At this level, project management is often as much about power and politics, as about plans and process; consequently stakeholder management is thoroughly explored.
Knowledge of project management principles is assumed and the emphasis is on the advanced application of appropriate techniques, such as project control in complex projects.
Distinguishing the complex from the complicated, you will be able to assess your projects against defined sources of complexity to better facilitate their management. By the end of the course, you will be confident in how to apply tools, techniques and disciplines to create a coherent project strategy for the most complex, cross functional projects.
Who is it for?

Are you required to apply your professional project management skills in an ever increasing complex environment, working across functions or country boundaries? Course approach
Our approach is to challenge, discuss and review – making you reflect on how you discharge your responsibilities as an experienced, professional project manager. Video is used to illustrate key learning points and prompt debate with fellow delegates.
Our style is highly interactive, designed to encourage you to discuss your own issues with your colleagues and to learn from each others' experiences. Examples, drawn from CITI’s experience of complex projects, are also used to explore advanced project management issues.
To support this approach, delegates are asked to complete a project manager capabilty assessment of their current approach to managing projects, which is compared to a high performing benchmark group. Your capability assessment is used by the tutor on the course to direct individual learning, and you will receive a copy of the report to take away with you for future development needs.
The programme has two taught modules and one work-based assignment. Typically run over a 6 week period, you will have the opportunity to use techniques discussed in the first module in your workplace and then come back to discuss how they worked and what to do next.
Duration
Module 1: 3 days and module 2: 4 days, separated by a one month gap.
