You will learn to organise and structure portfolios of projects using strategies that maximise their value within the organisational constraints of resources and risk tolerance.

By attending the course you will gain an in-depth understanding of the portfolio management process and how to select, prioritise, initiate and monitor projects within the portfolio. It also addresses the need to maintain a balanced portfolio while tracking and allocating scarce resources. The course defines the process of portfolio management and which areas are critical to its success. You will explore the complexities associated with portfolio management and the course will help you to clarify your understanding of the role of the portfolio manager within your organisation.

What is the course format?
The course is an interactive mix of lectures, discussions, exercises and practical application in the form of games, case studies and action planning. The case work will focus on establishing a portfolio; helping to illustrate how your choices will radically affect the manageability and value of the portfolio to the business. During the course we review tools for managing resource contention and the impact of project interdependencies, as well as approaches for minimising risk and maximising benefits.
