2008 CofEe Club - Estimating
The thirteenth meeting of CITI’s Centres of Excellence Club, was held at the Bank of England, the topic for the day was estimating.
Good estimates are a fundamental requirement to effective planning and are needed to produce a realistic schedule. However, there is a general poor understanding of what constitutes a good estimate and how estimates should be used in planning, monitoring and control.
Dr Thomas Docker, Chairman, CITI set the scene.
Head of Projects, Risk and Performance Division, Bank of England, gave a presentation on the Bank of England's history and how they have managed change and challenges in their organisation.
Stephen Jenner, Criminal Justice IT, gave a presentation on forecasting errors in projects - scale, causes and solutions.
Ian Duthie, Independant Consultant, gave a presentation on his personal experiences on estimating.
A number of exercises and workshops explored this topic. Access to all presentations, workshop outputs and papers are available to CofEe Club members via the online Linkedin forum.
