This course, accredited by the APM Group Ltd, is targeted at imparting knowledge of change management. The course introduces change management and provides coaching and guidance to enable participants to sit the accreditation examinations. By the end of the course, participants are familiar with change processes, techniques and vocabulary and are able to implement them.

The course blends formal presentation with practical exercises. Our trainers use their extensive change management experience to illustrate and put into context the concepts and techniques, to expand on the change material and ensure delegates understanding. Time is provided for discussion and clarification on examination techniques.

There are two levels of accreditation: Foundation and Practitioner. The course covers syllabus to Practitioner level. It is a very intensive course and we have organised the programme to meet the different learning styles of different individuals. The fourth day focuses on developing a deeper understanding of how to implement and manage change, as well as preparing for the Practitioner exam on the fifth day.

Managing Successful Programmes® Foundation and Practitioner

The course is suitable for programme managers, senior programme support staff, business change managers, senior managers involved in major business change and those wanting to become involved at a programme management level. It is specifically designed for individuals seeking professional recognition and certification in managing programmes.

What are the course objectives?

This course, accredited by APM Group Ltd on behalf of the AXELOS, is targeted at imparting knowledge of the MSP® methodology. The course introduces delegates to MSP® and provides coaching and guidance to enable participants to sit the foundation and practitioner examinations. By the end of the course, delegates are familiar with MSP processes, techniques and vocabulary, understand their values and are able to implement them.

The course blends formal presentation with practical exercises. Our trainers use their extensive programme management experience to illustrate and put into context the concepts and techniques, to expand on the MSP® material and ensure delegates’ understanding. Time is provided for discussion and clarification on examination techniques. Guided evening study is required, as well as pre-course reading and preparation.

The Foundation syllabus is covered in the first three days, enabling the Foundation exam, a multiple-choice format to be taken at the end of day 3. The final two days is aimed specifically at preparing for, then sitting, the Practitioner exam.

What is the duration and cost of the course?

This course is either 3 plus 2 days with a week break between the two modules or 5 days with the foundation exam taking place on the third day and the practitioner exam taking place on the fifth day.

Managing Successful Programmes® Advanced Practitioner re-registration

All MSP Practitioners and/or MSP Advanced Practitioners should be re-registered within 3-5 years of their original certification. The course is for anyone who has already attained either the 2003 Practitioner accreditation or the MSP 2007 Advanced Practitioner accreditation and now wishes to achieve re-registration. Re-registration at this level is achieved by either re-sitting the full Advanced Practitioner examination or by submitting a 4,000 word dissertation on a specific subject demonstrating application of MSP. This course is designed for the examination route. Note that the MSP manual has been updated and the examination will be against the 2011 version.

This course, accredited by APM Group Ltd on behalf of the AXELOS provides coaching and guidance to enable you to sit the Advanced Practitioner examination.

What content is covered?

The course covers the practical application of the methodology needed to sit the examination. It is a very intensive two days with the exam taken at the end of the second day.

The two days comprise a mix of lectures and practical activities designed to:

Refresh your knowledge of the MSP Principles, Governance Themes and Transformational Flows
Allow you to practice the learning through exercises designed to demonstrate awareness and application of the method to the MSPCare case study which will be used in the examination
Give you opportunities to complete mock examination questions
Develop your in-depth understanding of the examination case study.

Examination details

The exam consists of up to three compulsory questions on different units from the syllabus to be answered within three hours. The examination is based on a scenario (MSPCare) which will be issued as part of the pre-course materials and used during the workshop. Additional material in the form of reports, documents, formats, statements, etc. may also be provided at the time of the exam for analysis as part of an examination question. The examination is ‘open book’ but only your MSP Manual may be used during the examination.

You will be provided with the 2011 MSP Manual, along with a copy of the case study scenario (MSPCare) and some sample exam questions for trial before coming on the course. You will be required to familiarise yourself with the new MSP manual and case study before attending the two-day workshop.

We also cover what needs to be done to convert a project office to a programme office and how that approach varies in different organisational structures.
