CITI entered the defence sector in the 1990s when we began working with the MOD. Initially, we supported the MOD to develop an investment management approach to streamline the allocation of funds to projects. Subsequently, we designed and delivered a requirements capture course and associated handbook which later became part of 'Smart Procurement'.
Since that time we have worked on many projects for the MOD and now have numerous other multi-year relationships with organisations such as BAE Systems, Westland Helicopters, IFS Defence and Selex SAS.
Today, we partner with the defence industry to overcome current challenges, such as supporting change initiatives to help move from providing products to delivering capability. The industries' customers have seen the value in contracting for complete end to end services, demanding ‘the capability to deploy military aircraft simultaneously within a given timespan’ rather than a primary requirement stating ‘the supply of a number of aircraft’.
This means suppliers taking on diverse projects including runway maintenance in addition to their core capability of building the aircraft themselves. To meet this need requires deep organisational change; all industry participants must meet the demands of todays defence market through managing increasingly complex projects and through-lifecycles in the provision of end to end services.
CITI is right there at the forefront of these changes, helping our defence clients acquire and embed the necessary capability to deliver on time everytime.
BAE Systems ensures that all of its senior leaders undertake an annual performance and development review. This review includes the identification of their personal and professional development needs.
